EU Wheat: Mixed in quiet markets

European wheat futures traded slightly lower on Wednesday (Dec 30) on minimal activity as the year comes to an end.

There were no fresh fundamental news and as volumes were so thin, the market became a little erratic, said a London-based broker, with reference to Monday's (Dec 28) sharp rise in wheat prices.

March Paris milling wheat futures traded down 0.2%, at EUR133.50/tonne (US$192.68), with 816 lots moved. London May feed wheat futures traded down 0.04%, at GBP111.50/tonne (US$178.27), with 101 lots moved.

The rally on Monday was driven by the Chicago market, where soy led the grains complex higher, said a Paris-based broker.

There was some position-rolling activity during this session, but the market lacked clear direction, said the broker.
