North Vietnam Province Institute Anti-Bird Flu Measures
The northern province of Bac Giang in Vietnam has taken drastic measures to prevent a bird flu recurrence.
The province has required 10 local veterinary stations to coordinate with local authorities to boost monitoring of veterinary hygiene, animal quarantine, and poultry transportation and trade as well as to keep close watch on the poultry herd in case immediate treatment is required.
The provincial Veterinary Department has required the veterinary units at the grass-roots level to give vaccines against the disease to 6.7 million poultry, 780,000 pigs and nearly 120,000 cows and buffaloes with the aim of protecting the poultry and animal herds from the epidemic.
The province has not yet discovered any recurrence of bird flu.
