India state to introduce new law for milk quality

The Maharashtra state government plans to introduce a bill to ensure strict action against those who adulterate milk and milk products.

The decision to table the bill was made due to considerations of serious health consequences to the public caused by adulterated milk. Existing legislations gave only lenient punishments to the guilty.

The police recently arrested 12 people at Ghatkopar in Mumbai for selling adulterated milk.
