Bulgaria Bans Poultry Exports
Bulgaria's Agriculture Ministry banned the exports of poultry. The ban came after several registered cases of the so-called New Castle disease in the Bulgarian village Radino, near the city of Kardzhali.
The prohibition affects the exports of eggs and other poultry products as well. The ban will be come into force after their promulgation in the Bulgarian State Gazette.
Last week the German Handelsblatt newspaper reported that the European Union might ban imports of poultry from Bulgaria because of a bird flu case registered in the country. Still, Bulgaria's Agriculture Minister Mehmed Dikme announced that there has been no official confirmation from the EU for that ban.
