Rains affect Sri Lankan poultry farmers

The North Western Province of Sri Lanka experienced torrential rains which caused extensive damage to poultry farms in several areas.

This has resulted in massive losses to poultry farmers, thus, increasing the price of eggs and chicken.

Poultry Farmers' Association President, Sarath Ratnayake, told the media that the poultry producers are not in a position to meet the rising demand for eggs during the festive season.

Ratnayake also said that the poultry farmers in the North Western Province met more than 50% of the country's requirements of eggs.
