China's soy imports to shrink in January
China's soy imports in January may decline to 3.4 million tonnes from about 5.4 million tonnes this month, the Ministry of Commerce said Monday (Dec 27), citing estimates based on importers' reports.
The December soy imports were revised up from 5.3 million tonnes forecast in the ministry's December 7 statement. Inbound soyoil shipments may total 146,300 tonnes and 168,000 tonnes in December and January, respectively, the ministry said.
The ministry previously forecast December soyoil shipments to be 195,000 tonnes.
