Drought hampers China's winter wheat areas
Drought has affected about 17%, or 57 million mu (3.8 million hectares) of winter wheat cropland, China's Ministry of Agriculture said Friday (Dec 24).
The ministry earlier said that the country's winter wheat acreage reached 22.67 million hectares in 2010, up slightly over the previous year.
The drought area is mainly distributed in Shandong, Shanxi, Hebei, Henan, Jiangsu and Anhui provinces.
