Shuanghui and Nippon Ham to build large chicken operation in Henan

 

 

Leading food processing companies Shuanghui Group and Nippon Ham have embarked on a project in which a huge chicken operation would be established in China's Henan Province.

 

The project costs RMB1.72 billion (US$251.8 million), with the first phase expected to produce 50 million chickens, 300,000 tonnes of feed and 120,000 tonnes of chicken meat products per year, according to Shuanghui Group chairman Wan Long.

 

The project, located in Luohe city of Henan, is expected to be operational in 2010.

 

Shuanghui is a leading meat processing company in China, and Nippon Ham is a multinational food processing conglomerate headquartered in Japan.
