China methionine prices consolidate higher on reduced supply
Prices were stable during the week ended December 25.
Price quotes of imported dl-methionine increased to the range of RMB29.40-29.90/kg, while transacted prices were at RMB28.30-28.70/kg.
The suppliers of one major imported methionine brand lifted price quotes amid tightened supplies due to Christmas holidays. As demand improved while buyers stocked inventories before the year ended, prices of methionine consolidated higher.
Methionine prices are expected to stay around current levels as suppliers stand firm. However, demand is unlikely to increase prominently with buyers staying cautious while broiler prices are under pressure due to the"instant chicken"scandal.
