Russia harvests 60.9 million tonnes of grain

 

 

Russia's grain crop in 2010 was 60.9 million tonnes, according to preliminary full-year data of the state statistics office, Rosstat.

 

This is the lowest crop since 1999.

 

A severe drought decreased output of all cereals except rice. Feed grain output was halved. Spring grains output fell to 29.5 million tonnes, compared with 51.3 million in 2009. Winter grain output declined to 31.45 million tonnes from 45.8 million.

 

Wheat output fell by 32.7% to 41.5 million tonnes. The share of milling wheat is estimated at 78% of the total output, although production declined by some 22% to 32.4 million tonnes.

 

Feed wheat output fell by 52% to 9.1 million tonnes.
