Denmark sends aid again to Vietnam against bird flu
Denmark's government has sent veterinary equipment worth nearly US$600,000 to Vietnam, to help the country prevent further bird flu outbreaks. This was the second time this year the European country provided Vietnam help after US$500,000 in logistical aid was sent in July.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development received 480 automatic sprayers, 32,000 sets of protective clothes, 10,000 pairs of rubber boots and gloves, and 20,000 litres of disinfectant at a recent ceremony in Hanoi.
All the equipment would be transferred to 44 provinces and cities around Vietnam.
The Danish Government also donated US$400,000 to the country, to help disseminate information on bird flu epidemics. This would be done through 10 million leaflets, 400,000 posters, 150,000 handbooks and 50,000 pamphlets on bird flu prevention and the H5N1 virus strain in people.
