Pakistani egg prices rise, white meat prices fluctuate
Karachi, a city in Southern Pakistan, experienced a surge in the prices of eggs and a declining trend in prices of white meat.
The eggs which were being sold at PKR70 (US$0.82) per dozen some two to three weeks back have increased to PKR96 (US$1.12) per dozen currently and some shopkeepers have expressed their fear that the prices of the eggs will go up further in coming days.
Cold wave is said to be one of the reasons of high prices of eggs in the city.
Meanwhile, the prices of the white meat showed some fluctuation in market as some weeks back, the prices of the white meat were about PKR200/kilogramme (US$2.33/kilogramme) and later declined to PKR180/kilogramme (US$2.10). The prices have reached PKR220/kilogramme (US$2.57/kilogramme) due to a further increase.
