India's Himalya Int'l to expand dairy processing plant
Prompted by huge orders from Reliance Retail and other retail chains, India's largest private sector firm, processed foods manufacturer Himalya International Ltd will expand its dairy processing plant and invest in a Yogurt unit next year.
In a statement issued to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the company said Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Retail has agreed to source Yogurt and flavoured milk from them.
Reliance Retail has already issued a letter of intent in this respect and has also entered into an agreement for buying cheese for its stores, said Himalya.
Himalya International has inked with Reliance Retail in November to sell its products in the domestic market. Himalya has been exporting frozen products to the US for the past 10 years.
Aside from Reliance, Himalya is planning to sell flavoured and fruit yogurts through various other retail chains.
