Vietnam's Can Tho City seafood exports up by 78 percent

The city of Can Tho City in Southern Vietnam has exported more than 31,000 tonnes of seafood products for US$212 million this year, posting a year-on-year increase of 78 percent, making up almost half of the city's export revenues.

Experts attributed the good performance of the sector to market research, trademark promotion activities and the application of advanced post-harvest and processing technologies.

The largest city in Mekong Delta province has a thriving seafood industry that exports in 30 countries in Asia, Europe, Oceania and North America.

They have just won new contracts to sell more than 7,000 tonnes of shrimps and fish in Japan, the Republic of Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, the US, New Zealand, Australia and many European Union countries.
