Indonesia extends ban on shrimp imports
The Indonesian government has extended its shrimp import ban, imposed through a joint ministerial decision and initially scheduled to expire on Dec 28, a senior official said Monday.
The ban on the import of shrimp was contained in a joint ministerial decree between the Trade Ministry and the Fishery and Marine Resources Ministry. A ministry official was quoted as saying that the ban was imposed as part of efforts to prevent contaminated shrimp and shrimp disease from entering Indonesia.
