S&M International revokes sale of Yang Sheng cooked salted duck eggs in US

US-based S&M International is recalling its products, Yang Sheng cooked salted duck eggs suspected to be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a bacterium which can cause botulism poisoning.

The eggs were distributed between August and October 2012 to outlets in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Michigan.

The salted duck eggs were vacuum-packed in plastic with six eggs per 12.69 oz. package, bearing the UPC: 6949682803568, with lot code: YS12-02C printed on the product's boxes.

The New York State Department of Agriculture & Markets found that the product was not processed in a favourable manner that stops the growth of the bacteria.

Customers who have bought the product have been advised to either discard it or return it to the point of purchase for a full refund.

Symptoms of botulism poisoning include double vision, blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, and muscle weakness.
