*Commonly referred to in China as liquid methionine is methionine hydroxyl analogue, a liquid source of supplemental methionine.

Global markets

In Europe, quotes for 2012 Q1 orders remained unchanged at EUR3.38-3.45/kg.

Market analysis

Demand for methionine in China showed little improvement lately, keeping prices weak despite limited availability of the product. In some regions, buyers reported that one major brand has halted price releases due to depleting stocks.

Market forecast

Methionine market will remain soft as local production is expected to increase substantially during Q1 next year. There is, however, little scope for methionine prices, which are hovering near 2009's record-low levels, to move lower.
