Oklahoma firm recalls beef products on E. coli concerns
National Steak and Poultry had recalled about 248,000 pounds of beef products amid concerns of E. coli contamination.
Several illnesses linked to the products have been reported in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, South Dakota and Washington states. The USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said it became aware of the problem after a Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) investigation of a cluster of E. coli illnesses.
The products, produced in October, prompted a Class I recall, indicating the highest risk of illness if they are consumed. The products were distributed to restaurants nationwide, sold under different brand names such as National Steak and Poultry, EGN, KRM, Carino's and Moe's.
