China readies launch of pig futures

China's Dalian Commodity Exchange has stepped up preparations for the launch of futures in pig livestock.

Experts said this would help to attain more transparent price system and better reflect market movements.

China produced 680 million pigs last year, accounting for more than half of the world's total output.

Analysts opined that setting up pig futures could aid in stabilizing prices, as well as improve standards of raising and breeding the animals.
