Vitamin C Prices Surged Sharply to US$9/kg
An eFeedLink Exclusive Report
Prices of vitamin C in the global market shot up sharply from US$2.7/kg last year, to US$3.4/kg early this year. In recent days, prices surged to a high of US$9.0/kg.
This surge is mainly attributed to the following factors:
-
Firstly, production of vitamin C requires highly advanced technology and skills, and only few producers possess the capability to produce the products. As such, the production of vitamin C is concentrated in the hands of a few major players;
- Secondly, several vitamin C producers have pulled out of the global vitamin C market due to the price war in the past few years, and the major ones who are still currently in production are seen to have regulated their output.
