Abundant supplies weigh on China methionine market
Prices continued to slide during the week ended December 18.
Price quotes of imported dl-methionine fell to the range of RMB29.30-29.80/kg, while transacted prices reduced to RMB28.20-28.60/kg.
Demand for methionine softened as thee poultry sector remained cautious despite diminishing inventories of the amino acid. Several suppliers of imported methionine willingly reduced prices in efforts to clear excess stocks.
Abundant supplies of imported methionine in conjunction with increased output by a local producer will keep methionine prices soft even as buyers are likely to accumulate inventories in the coming weeks.
