Russia's Jul-Dec grain exports up 18.7% on-year

Between July 1 and December 18, Russia's grain exports totalled 15.078 million tonnes, 18.7% more than in the corresponding period last year, the federal statistics service reported.

Grain exports from December 1 through December 18 totalled 1.127 million tonnes, including 669,000 tonnes of wheat, 122,000 tonnes of barley, 311,000 tonnes of corn and 25,000 tonnes of other minor grains, the statistics service said.

This year's grain harvest is expected to rise to 88-90 million tonnes in clean weight from 71.7 million tonnes in 2012 when crops were damaged by drought, the agriculture ministry said.

Russia's grain exports in the 2012-2013 marketing year fell to 15.69 million tonnes from 27.2 million tonnes in the previous marketing year. In the current marketing year, July 2013-June 2014, the agriculture ministry expects Russia's grain exports to rise to 18-20 million tonnes.
