Vietnam to make big aquaculture investment in 2010

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will establish a Vietnam Seafood Corporation with a registered capital of VND1.008 trillion (US$54.5 million) in Jan next year.

The new corporation will be formed based on merging three existing seafood companies namely Vietnam Seafood Corp., Ha Long Seafood Corp. and Bien Dong Seafood Corp.

Once operational, the corporation will be the biggest of its kind in Vietnam with 12 companies, 34 cooperating companies and 12 joint ventures involving in fish catching, aquatic raising, processing, and trading.

The mergence will help boost effectiveness of the companies in both the domestic and global markets.
