Zhongpin starts trial production at Jiangsu, Jilin pork plants

   

Zhongpin Inc began running trial production at its two chilled and frozen pork products plants in Jiangsu and Jilin provinces.

The Taizhou, Jiangsu-based plant, which is in its first stage, is designed to produce 80,000 tonnes of chilled and easy-to-cook pork products and 20,000 tonnes of frozen pork each year. Phase-two construction of the US$63-million plant is slated to finish in the third quarter of 2012, producing 30,000 tonnes of prepared pork products annually.

The second plant, which is based in Changchun, Jilin province, is capable of producing 70,000 tonnes of chilled pork and 25,000 tonnes of frozen pork in its first phase. Phase two of this US$61.5-million plant will include a 30,000-tonne production line for prepared pork products and an R&D centre, which are expected to open in the third quarter of 2012.

Asia's largest layer base nears completion in Beijing

 
CP Group's RMB774-million layer rearing base has entered the last phase of construction in Pinggu, Beijing. The 755-mu base, the largest of its kind in Asia with the capacity to house three million layers and produce 45,000 tonnes of eggs annually, is scheduled to go into operation in May next year.

Kexing Eco Agricultural Technology Park breaks ground in Hebei

 
Kexing Agricultural Technology Development Co Ltd started building an Ecological Agricultural Technology Park in Xuanhua county, Zhangjiakou, Hebei province. The RMB200-million park includes a 15,000-sq-m hog fattening shed, a 2,000-mu organic vegetable farm, an organic fertiliser plant, a food processing line and a small feed mill, among others. Construction is slated to finish by 2014.

Agromed appoints EFEV as distributor for Chinese market

    
Agromed Austria, a provider of premium natural feed additives, announced a distribution agreement for China market with EFEV Group, a Shanghai-based distribution company of feed additives and animal health products in China. This new partnership will enable Agromed to enter and develop their OptiCell product line in the China market as part of its expansion plans in Asia Pacific.

OptiCell is a natural lignocellulose product made up of fermentable and non-fermentable fibre contents designed as a high-density fibre source for feed programmes.

China's poultry giants join forces in Anhui's breeder layer base

 
Shandong Yisheng Livestock & Poultry Breeding Co Ltd, Shandong Minhe Animal Husbandry Co Ltd, Shandong Liuhe Group and Shouguang Tianhui Food Co Ltd have jointly invested RMB60 million in a 360,000-bird Grandparent breeder layer rearing base in Xiaoxian, Suzhou of Anhui province. The 210-mu base will include four rearing farms, two quarantine sites and a hatchery.

East China's largest beef cattle farm completes work in Fujian

      
Fujian Yuan Fang Animal Husbandry Co Ltd - the largest beef cattle rearing base in East China, has recently finished construction in Fujian's Minqing county. The facility, which currently has over 800 Angus beef cattle in its inventory, is expected to output 5,000 beef cattle and 10,000 mutton sheep annually when production is in full swing.
