White meat prices shrink in Pakistani city
In Karachi, a downward trend has been observed in the prices of the white meat with the onset of winter season in metropolis.
A survey conducted by the Pakistani media reveals that the prices of the white meat are ranging from PKR210/kg-PKR220/kg (US$2.45/kg-US$2.57/kg). They are formerly at PKR270/kg-PKR280/kg (US$3.15/kg-US$3.27/kg) until Eid days.
During the holy month of Ramazan, the prices of white meat increased from PKR225/kg-PKR280/kg (US$2.62/kg-US$3.27/kg). The prices of live chicken also increased.
The survey also showed that the increase in the price of white meat was due to its enhanced consumption in different edible items like chicken samosa, chicken roll and other items for Iftar, which caused the sudden surge in its prices in last Ramazan.
However, a few weeks ago, the prices of chicken began to decrease from its historic height. During the survey, people have appealed to higher authorities to keep a check on the prices of daily necessities including chicken so that these items could continue to be accessed by common people.
However, the authorities of City District Government of Karachi are alert to check price hike and profiteering in city.
