Belarus milk production rises in 2010
In 2010, Belarus is set to manufacture 6.7 million tonnes of milk, up 1.7% as compared to 2009.
Dairy production is to increase 9.4% and meat production is set to rise 13.6%. The gross output is expected to total 101.8% in contrast to 2009.
The 2005-2010 development of dairy and meat industries improved raw materials processing, raised the quality of output, and increased the validity period and competitiveness of production. In line with the rural revival and development program for 2005-2010, meat and dairy industries underwent technical re-equipment. Cheese, whole milk, and milk powder manufacturing facilities have been upgraded. New packaging technologies are applied. The above steps taken are set to bring the goods in compliance with sanitary and technological requirements and increase the export of production, Nadezhda Kotkovets said.
Belarusian dairy plants are expected to process six million tonnes of milk in 2011, increasing by 18% as compared to 2010. The production of cheeses will amount to 151,100 tonnes, butter at 122,000 tonnes, whole milk products at 1.5 million tonnes and skimmed milk powder at 115,000 tonnes.
Belarus' meat packing plants are set to produce 185,000 tonnes of sausage products, 35 million of conventional meat cans, and 52,000 tonnes of manufactured meat products.
