China's Liaoning Province To Buy 110,000 MT Wheat In Tender

Liaoning province in northern China is looking to boost state reserves by purchasing 110,000 metric tons of wheat.

"We are going to hold the tender on Dec. 25, to buy 110,000 tons of new crop wheat harvested this year," an official from the Dalian Northern Cereal Exchange in Liaoning said.

The wheat should be from Shandong, Henan, Hebei and Jiangsu provinces, the top wheat-producing regions in China, the official added. It should comprise 55,000 tons each of hard red winter wheat and hard white wheat.

The wheat will be used to restock local government-owned warehouses, added the official.

The Chinese government holds auctions and tenders each year to rotate old grain stocks with new crop grains.
