US-based Blue Heron Aqua Farms breaks even
Neptune Industries, Inc announced its farming subsidiary, Blue Heron Aqua Farms, LLC, which operates a fish farm in South Florida, attained operational breakeven in November 2006.
According to Florida-based Neptune, Blue Heron operations generated positive gross revenues from sales, resulting in a small gross profit for the month.
This is the first time since the disruption to business from the two hurricanes in 2005 that Blue Heron has achieved a gross profit.
The company said it believes the worst is over and will now work toward overall profitability for the remainder of the fiscal year.
Neptune Industries, Inc. has developed a scalable, modular aquaculture technology that address environmental concerns by controlling and recycling all waste products, while ensuring the production of the highest quality fish at an affordable price.
The company is a leading producer of hybrid striped bass, which it markets internationally. The company intends to target the organic market once such certification is available.
