Syria Sells 25,000 MT White Barley
Syria's General Establishment for Cereal Processing and Trade, or Hoboob, announced the sale of 25,000 metric tons of white barley at $134.50 per metric ton to an Egyptian company in its selling tender that closed Dec. 19.
Hoboob also sold 25,000 tons of black barley to a Syrian company at an undisclosed price in the same auction, an official told OsterDowJones.
The barley sold is for March 2004 delivery.
Syria's 2002 barley crop was estimated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in its latest report to be at 800,000 tons. Most of that is black barley, it said.
