CJ Indonesia targets 100 million birds production in 2013
 
 


Integrated livestock producer, CheilJedang Indonesia (Indonesia CJ) aims to produce as many as 100 million day-old chicks or day old chicken (DOC) or the equivalent of this year's production target in 2013.


Revelation Nugroho, Marketing Manager CJ Indonesia, said the sale price was still below the DOC that the cost of production (HPP) making its production target set at the same rate. "The price DOC greatly affects production targets and expansion of the company," Revelation said on Wednesday (Dec 5).


CJ Indonesia currently sells DOC IDR2,000 (US$0.21) per head. Price DOC in August-November and had dropped to IDR1,000-1,500 (US$0.1-0.16) per head. According to Revelation, DOC ideal price is IDR3,000 (US$0.31) per head.


However, Indonesia still survives CJ producing DOC compensated because of other business sectors namely feed. As of early December, the production of DOC CJ Indonesia reached 90% of target. The achievement of this year, according to Revelation, is 10% higher than last year. Currently, Indonesia CJ DOC nursery located in six areas, namely in East Java, West Java, South Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Lampung.


To breed DOC, CJ Indonesia using brood stock or parent stock (PS) belongs to itself and from other companies. Every one grand parent stock (GPS) can produce 40 PS tail, while one can produce 130 PS tail DOC.


Next year, CJ Indonesia intends to add to the cage nursery DOC in Sumatra. "The capacity is 50,000, with an investment of up to IDR15 billion (US$1.6 million)," said Wahyu.
