China's 2010 winter wheat acreage climbs
China's wheat planting area reached 22.67 million hectares in 2010, edging up 66,700 hectares over last year, the Ministry of Agriculture said Friday (Dec 17).
The winter rapeseed acreage rose to approach 6.87 million hectares, a survey by the ministry showed.
Currently, the country has finished autumn and winter seeding, with planting area of major crops stable.
China National Grain and Oils Information Centre (CNGOIC) earlier predicted that China would produce 115 million tonnes of wheat this year, unchanged from last year, while its rapeseed output was expected to drop 7.7% to 12.6 million tonnes.
