Vietnam's seafood exports rise for January to November period
Vietnam's seafood export value in the first 11 months reached US$4.55 billion, gaining a 16.3% increase on-year, according to the Vietnam's General Statistics Office on Monday (Dec 20).
In November alone, the country pocketed 480 million US dollars from shipping seafood overseas, up 9.1% on-year, said the office.
According to the General Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam's seafood export saw a robust growth in volume to most major markets including the EU, the US, Japan and the Republic of Korea during this period.
Shrimp is Vietnam's main export group with the record high export value of US$1.68 billion in January-November period, accounting 37% of the total value of the country's export aquatic products, according to the ministry.
Shrimp's export value increased dramatically in the first 11 months due to the rise in shrimp's average export price.
Shrimp's average export price in the first 11 months stood at US$8,530 a tonne, up 170% on-year, said the ministry.
