China's corn imports slow in November

China's corn imports in November slowed down to 78,616 tonnes from October's imports of 251,934 tonnes, data from the China Customs Statistics Information Centre showed Monday (Dec 27).

China, the world's second top corn consumer, booked fewer imports in the second half of the year after rising Chicago Board of Trade prices made imports more expensive than domestic supplies.

China has imported the largest volume of corn in more than a decade this year amid a tight domestic supply.

Imports in the first 11 months were 1.558 million tonnes, up 2,979% from a year-ago period, said the centre.
