Demand for Vietnamese shrimp hits record highs
Prices of green-legged shrimp in Vietnam's Mekong Delta province of An Giang hit VND130,000-150,000 (US$7.03-8.12) per kg, up 50% compared to that last year.
According to media reports, high demand of green-legged shrimp from Cambodian market is the main reason for the hike of shrimp prices.
Experts forecast that the total yield for green-legged shrimp in Mekong Delta region is 15,000 tonnes.
Farmers in Dong Thap and An Giang provinces raise green-legged shrimp on 9,000 hectares of rice field.
