South Korea elections no impact for beef consumption
While South Korea selected its president, former Seoul mayor candidate Lee Myung-Bak on December 19, weaker than expected beef consumption cropped up this December with fewer large scale end of year parties. It is expected that demand for beef will pick up again once the election fever is over, and will remain strong until the Lunar New Year holiday in February.
With purchasing now complete from Australia, it has been commented by the trade that disruptions to ordering patterns throughout 2007 may lead to a shortage of chilled product for the peak demand season.
