Argentina October soy exports up 180 percent on year

 

 

Argentina shipped 1,616,426 tonnes of soy in October, up 180 percent from the 576,579 exported in October 2006, according to the latest Agriculture Secretariat data.

 

China was the leading buyer of Argentine soy in October, purchasing 1,363,146 tonnes.

 

Argentina also shipped 733,408  tonnes of soyoil in October, up from 576,897 tonnes shipped the same month a year earlier.

 

China was the largest importer of Argentine soyoil in October, buying 313,291 tonnes.

 

Iran followed with 60,369 tonnes, while Bangladesh bought 41,538 tonnes.

 

Argentina exported 3,051,689 tonnes of soymeal and pellets in October, up from 2,113,690 tonnes shipped during the same month a year earlier.

 

European countries were the leading buyers of soymeal and pellets.

 

Argentina is the world's No. 3 soy producer and exporter behind the US and Brazil and is the leading exporter of soyoil and meal.

 

Argentina also shipped 47,832 tonnes of sunseed oil in October, up from the 101,297 tonnes shipped in October 2006.

 

Egypt was the primary market for Argentine sunseed oil in October, purchasing 9,393 tonnes.

 

Angola followed with 8,671 tonnes while Australia bought 5,300 tonnes.

 

Argentina is the world's leading exporter of sunseed oil.
