UK pig industry campaigns for home-produced pork

The British Pig Industry Group (BPISG) announced it would start its poster campaign to persuade consumers to patronize British pork.

The group said it would spread 16-feet (4.8 metre) wide posters on trailer-mounted A-frames.

Ellen Furby of BPISG expressed that some retailers are favouring cheap imported pork over domestic products where the welfare status can be guaranteed.

Furby added that the group counters the practice as it will undermine the price increases retailers have recently introduced on UK products, at the request of the industry.

BPISG added that ideally, they would have one of the A-frame trailers daily on the road in every county.
