UN to support Ukraine against bird flu

The UN has offered support to Ukraine against bird flu in the Crimean region, UN Resident Coordinator in Ukraine Francis O'Donnell said.

Ukraine's Emergency Situations Ministry welcomed the offer, and suggested that the government request financial help from UN organisations for anti-bird flu measures.

At the moment, the country needs sufficient respiratory and skin protection kits and disinfecting devices, among other things required to curb the disease's spread.
