India contemplates floor price for egg exports

Table egg shippers from the Namakkal district in Tamil Nadu, India are encountering the problem of price undercutting as the egg export trade booms.

To counter this, the region's All-India Poultry Products Exporters Association (APPEA) is considering a floor price for table egg exports.

The proposed floor price would be based on the existing farm-gate formula adopted for the domestic market by the National Egg Coordination Committee in the Namakkal zone, according to APPEA secretary P Valsan.

As part of the new export trade regulation within the sector, APPEA is also planning to update a credit control mechanism that will set out definite payment terms.
