Russian official to probe on Krasnaya Polyana's million chicken cull

First Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov asked Prosecutor General Yury Chaika on Friday (Dec 17) to inspect the cull of over a million chickens at poultry processor Krasnaya Polyana's plant.

On Wednesday (Dec 15), Dmitry Noskov, a spokesman for Krasnaya Polyana, posted a video on his blog, saying that his company had killed over a million chickens due to a lack of fodder and asked the Russian government to intervene.

Russian agribusiness group Agroholding, which owns Krasnaya Polyana, is currently on the verge of bankruptcy.

Krasnaya Polyana is the Kursk Region's largest poultry producer.
