Poultry leads New Zealand food price hikes in November
Food prices in New Zealand rose in November, driven by grocery food, meat and poultry, data from Statistics New Zealand showed.
Figures indicate that its food-price index rose 0.4 percent in November from October and 3.9 percent from the previous year, with the grocery food group rising 1.3 percent on the month.
The meat, poultry and fish category rose 1.5 percent during the month, led by poultry prices surging 8.2 percent, the statistics bureau said.
Food prices make up 17.4 percent of the consumer price index.
