Uganda to lift ban on Kenya's beef
Kenya would soon be able to resume its beef exports to Uganda.
Kenya livestock minister, Joseph Munyao said Tuesday, Dec 19 an assessment by the Ugandan delegation on the meat processing and production plant at the Kenya Meat Commission has swayed the Ugandan government to accept lifting the beef ban soon.
Uganda banned importation of beef products from Kenya in the late 1990s claiming Kenya imported meat contaminated with mad cow disease and re-exported it to neighbouring countries.
Munyao said meat export resumption would commence with the signing of terms of agreements.
