Brazil to see 52% increase for soy value in 2013
 

 

Brazil's soy value is expected to reach US$104.3 billion for 2013, a rise of 52% over the same period of 2011.

 

Data from the Gross Value of Production (GVP) - prepared by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) - are based on surveys of crop National Supply Company (Conab) and the Brazilian Institute of Research and Statistics (IBGE).

 

By Conab projections, the soy harvest in 2012/13 is expected to reach 82.6 million tonnes, an increase of 24.5% over the previous crop (66.3 million tonnes).

 

The forecast is close to the IBGE, which calculates the production of 81.2 million tonnes.

 

For next year, it is estimated that the total value of production of major crops in the country is 25% higher than the result obtained in 2012.
