*Commonly referred to in China as liquid methionine is methionine hydroxyl analogue, a liquid source of supplemental methionine.

Global markets

In Europe, quotes for 2012 Q1 orders declined to EUR3.38-3.45/kg amid stable production.

Market analysis

Lower winter feed intake and weak livestock replenishment interest continued to curb methionine demand. However, prices were falling at a slower rate over the week, showing signs of bottoming out.

Market forecast

With trading expected to improve due to year-end demand, methionine prices are set to consolidate within a narrow range in the near term.
