US pig breeding operation expands operations
Kentucky-based PIC USA, a swine breeding operation with 3,000 sows producing 60,000 baby pigs a year, is expanding into to Campbell County, Kentucky within two years.
PIC operates two pig breeding farms, one in Kentucky and one in Saskatchewan, Canada.
The US$17 million multi-building facility would employ approximately 57 staff members and have five sites ranging from 5 - 30 acres.
The company has received concerns have been raised about odour and waste handling and is currently awaiting the granting of state permits.
