Vietnam fishery targets US$4 billion worth of exports by 2010
The fisheries sector is aiming to reach US$4 billion in export turnover by 2010 and an annual growth rate of 9 percent under its programme of development.
According to the Vietnam News Agency, the Ministry of Fisheries plans to spearhead the industry as one of the export staples of Vietnam in its vision towards 2020.
The ministry has worked out a series of measures to be implemented to reach the targets. The strategies includes developing a distribution network overseas, investment in the production of safe and high-quality fries, and ensuring that all processing factories meet standards of food hygiene and safety.
