Bulgaria to resume Turkish poultry imports
Bulgaria would resume imports of live birds, eggs and poultry products from Turkey, as the bird flu situation there has improved, the country's agriculture and forest ministry said.
Meanwhile, the ministry has ordered local authorities nationwide to tighten controls on live poultry trade, especially in regions close to Romania. Romania was recently hit by new bird flu outbreaks.
Border police have also been instructed to step up checks on vehicles coming from countries affected by bird flu.
Bulgaria still maintains its ban on poultry imports from Romania and Ukraine due to recent outbreaks in both countries.
