Australia's November beef exports to Indonesia hit two-year monthly high

 


Australian beef and veal exports to Indonesia maintained an upward momentum in 2013, with November's volume reaching a two-year high since July 2011.

 

Australia's Department of Agriculture says that November exports have increased to 6,140 tonnes shipped weight, a 16% rise from October's figure.

 

Meat and Livestock Australia reports that improved monthly exports for the second consecutive month moved up the volume for the year-to-November, which topped 34,714 tonnes. 

 

In November's beef exports to Indonesia, chilled products rose significantly to 601 tonnes, a surge of 272% on-year, while frozen products jumped 63% on-year to 5,539 tonnes.

 

In terms of chilled beef exports by cut, blade accounted for the largest share at 92 tonnes, followed by 81 tonnes of manufacturing beef and 65 tonnes of striploin. While manufacturing beef remained the most popular cut shipped to Indonesia, the volume slipped by 22% on-year to 2,360 tonnes.

 

In contrast, blade and thick flank/knuckle increased soared 1,218% to 609 tonnes, and 1,507% to 610 tonnes, respectively.
