ITC to establish milk processing plant in Munger, India

 

 

 
Tobacco firm, ITC, will mark its venture into food processing in Bihar with the building of a milk processing facility in the Munger district, India.

 

The construction will be completed in one year, ITC Executive Director Kurush Grant said.

 

It will have milk processing capacity of two lakh litres per day and produce 10 tonnes of ghee, 20 tonnes of milk powder and 20 tonnes of milk in pouches for domestic consumption per day.

 

Stating that Bihar has vast potential for development in food processing and dairy sector, he said ITC will set up two food processing units in the state soon.

 

Speaking after laying the foundation stone of the milk processing plant, Deputy Chief Minister, Sushil Kumar Modi, said Bihar has huge potential for development in milk and food processing sector due to the abundant resources like milching cattle and fodder.

 

The state government has decided to set up milk processing units with capacity of 32 lakh litres milk production per day in Khagaria, Bhojpur and Munger districts, he said.
