Ukraine sees 1.3% increase for cattle in December

 

 

Ukraine's cattle figures stand at 4.8 million animals as of December 1, 2012, which is a rise of 1.3% on-year, according to the State Statistics Service.

 

The number of cows in the period fell by 0.7%, to 2.59 million animals, pig numbers were up by 2.7%, to 7.95 million animals, while the number of sheep and goats were down by 0.3%, to some 1.84 million animals.

 

Poultry numbers over the period grew by 8.7%, to 228.3 million animals.

 

As reported, the number of cattle in Ukraine as of January 1, 2012 was 4.47 million animals, which was 0.5% down on-year. The number of cows in the period fell by 1.6%, to 2.62 million animals, pig numbers were down by 6.1%, to 7.47 million animals, while poultry numbers were down by 2.1%, to 199.5 million birds. The number of sheep and goats over the period grew by 0.5%, to 1.74 million animals.
